 | Friday, July 4th, 2008: O'Donnell Belts Bunch of Base Hits Brian O'Donnell told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard." Well, that's just what O'Donnell of the Reno Tenpinners did against the Omaha Cyclones. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Cyclones, who suffered a 16-3 defeat. "Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us." B. O'Donnell singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and singled in the 7th. This season O'Donnell has hit at a .268 clip with 36 RBIs, 8 home runs and 55 runs scored. He has played in 75 games. |
