Sunday, July 13th, 2008: Bad News for New Jersey, Edwards Hurt
Cal Edwards at first refused to leave today's Kentucky-New Jersey game after he suffered a torn rib cage muscle while colliding with a player at a base. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor," the feisty New Jersey left fielder said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Edwards out of action for 6 weeks.

This season Edwards is batting .267 with 25 home runs.
