Tuesday, July 15th, 2008: Bears Starting Pitcher Injured
Luis Moreno at first refused to leave today's Reno-Bakersfield game after he suffered a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor," the feisty Bakersfield starting pitcher said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Moreno out of action for 8 months.

Currently Moreno has a 8-3 won-lost record in 16 starts with a 3.46 ERA. He also has 54 strikeouts in 101.1 innings.
