Thursday, July 31st, 2008: Kouki Torches Thoroughbreds for 5 Hits
All game long West Virginia's Michizane Kouki was rattling the walls at Allegheny Field and banging out base hits against the Kentucky Thoroughbreds. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Coal Sox had a 11-1 victory.

Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 26-year-old first baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."

M. Kouki doubled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off M. Hashimoto in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off M. Hashimoto in the 9th.

This year Kouki is hitting at a .298 pace with 9 home runs and 42 RBIs. He has played in 84 games and scored 37 times.
