Monday, September 1st, 2008: Statesmen Starting Pitcher Injured
The Charleston Statesmen will lose the services of starting pitcher Dean O'Monahan after he sustained a finger blister while throwing a pitch in today's game against the New Orleans Trendsetters. When asked about the injury, he took a philosophical approach. "Worse things can happen in life," O'Monahan said. "The key now is to stay positive." His trainer said he is expected to be sidelined for the next 1-2 weeks.

O'Monahan has gone 9-5 this season with an ERA of 3.18 and 149 strikeouts in 164 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .234 against him.
