| Breaking News | | Thursday, May 14th, 2009: Red-Hot López Cools off Beantown Before the game Ángel López liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Kingpins pitcher whitewashed the Beantown Browns 10-0.
López said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The New Brunswick starter held Beantown scoreless, giving up 4 hits while registering 8 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Browns manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
This season in 8 starts Ángel López has a record of 3-1 with 52 strikeouts in 55.2 innings and a 2.10 ERA. | | Saturday, May 9th, 2009: Gonzáles Twirls Shutout The Raleigh manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about Santiago Gonzáles, who had just hurled a fine 5-hit shutout over the New Brunswick Kingpins. He had 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in the Raleigh 2-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," the New Brunswick manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
This year Gonzáles has fanned 47 in 52 innings and collected a 5-1 record with a 1.38 ERA. | | Wednesday, April 29th, 2009: Ortega's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games With 1 hit in today's game Osvaldo Ortega added another number to his consecutive-game hitting streak. Ortega singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th and walked in the 8th.
