| Breaking News |  | Friday, May 15th, 2009: Braggarts Chill Grant's Hot Streak The 25-game hitting streak of 27-year-old catcher Tim Grant came to an end today at Ballpark of Jefferson County. The Braggarts held him hitless in 5 at-bats and also sent the Jefferson County Independence down to defeat 2-1.
During the current season Grant is batting at a .325 clip with 5 home runs and 25 RBIs. He has played in 33 games and scored 15 times. |  | Wednesday, May 13th, 2009: Grant Extends Hit Streak to 25 Games Tim Grant collected 1 hit in today's game and extended his hitting streak to 25 games. His club, the Jefferson County Independence, beat Fayetteville 11-0.
After the ballgame, Grant quipped to a BNN reporter, "Right now, when they throw me the ball, it looks the size of a softball. I'm pretty excited how things are clicking." T. Grant struck out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
This season Grant is swinging the bat at a .339 rate with 40 hits in 118 at-bats. To date he has hit 5 home runs, scored 15 runs and driven in 25. |  | Thursday, May 7th, 2009: Browns Chill Ortega's Hot Streak Beantown brought Osvaldo Ortega's hitting spree to a screeching halt today in its 5-4 victory over Fayetteville at Ballpark of Fayetteville. The Browns mound staff snapped the 22-year-old first baseman's hitting streak at 26 games. Ortega failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats to end it.
