Tuesday, September 16th, 2008: Rumor du Jour; Jefferson County's Ishibashi Demanding Trade
"Don't believe everything you hear." was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Tabito Ishibashi wanting out of Jefferson County surfaced late yesterday. No one knows exactly how this news broke and Ishibashi laughed it off when told of the story.

Saturday, September 13th, 2008: Worcester Holds Jefferson County Scoreless
Rafael Lara of the Worcester Saucers was on fire against Jefferson County. He shut them down 5-0 on 5 hits and no runs with 5 strikeouts and no walks.

"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Lara said. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."

This year Lara has gone 9-7 with an ERA of 2.99 and has 125 strikeouts in 147.2 innings.

Monday, September 1st, 2008: Jefferson County's García AML Star of the Week
Jorge García punched, poked and pummeled the baseball last week and today he garnered a majority of the votes for the Appalachian Mountain League Player of the Week award.

The Jefferson County Independence right fielder slashed out a .455 average with 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 1 home run and 8 RBIs.

In this current campaign García is hitting at a .279 clip with 10 home runs and 56 RBIs.
