Tuesday, May 5th, 2009: Ortega Boosts Hit Streak to 25 Games
In today's 6-2 win over the Newport News Anchormen at Ballpark of Fayetteville, Osvaldo Ortega of the Fayetteville Braggarts ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 25 games with 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
O. Ortega hit an RBI single in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and singled in the 8th.

Posting a .418 batting average to date, Ortega has 1 home run and 14 RBIs.

Friday, April 10th, 2009: Newport News Loses Salazar for Season
Doctors in Newport News said Ernesto Salazar may not play anymore this year. The Anchormen left fielder received a dislocated shoulder during a game against the Providence Spooners and will be out for at least 11 months. Club officials told BNN they did not expect him to return to the team this season.

Salazar is hitting .313 this year with no home runs and 5 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .294, no walks and scored 3 times.

Saturday, September 20th, 2008: Newport News's Jones Asked for Trade. Fact or Fiction?
It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that Newport News's Jim Jones has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the closer may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment.
