He excelled with a 14-8 mark and 2.42 ERA in 26 starts, tossed 178.1 innings, fanned 127 and held the opposition to a .210 average. That's why today he was selected the Rocky Mountain League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner for 2008.
The SBWA will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting. | | Wednesday, September 10th, 2008: Kehoe Batters Mansfield Big Time! 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Tri-Staters 8-4 win over Mansfield, Dustin Kehoe was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Tri-Staters Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Kehoe delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
D. Kehoe hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Kehoe is batting .357 with 1 home run. | | Friday, August 1st, 2008: July's Premier Pitcher Announced By RML Evansville Tri-Staters fans lauded the selection of reliever Jorge Nieto as Rocky Mountain League Pitcher of the Month for July.
