Breaking News Monday, April 27th, 2009: Rocky Mountain League's Hottest Hitter 23-year-old Kien-lung Hsiao made a few Grand Rapids headlines during this past week as the rookie shortstop proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Rocky Mountain League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 16 hits in 26 at-bats to put up a .615 average. Hsiao collected no home runs, 4 RBIs and scored 6 runs. This season-to-date Hsiao has 1 home run and a .453 batting average. Monday, April 20th, 2009: RML Player of the Week Named So far in his young career, Kien-lung Hsiao has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Rocky Mountain League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 23-year-old Grand Rapids Rafters shortstop hit at a torrid .522 clip as he collected 12 hits in 23 at-bats, 1 home run, 2 RBIs and 7 runs scored. Friday, April 10th, 2009: Grand Rapids's Frederick Will Miss Season The season is ending on a bad note for John Frederick, starting pitcher for the Grand Rapids Rafters. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. Frederick was hurt against the Evansville Tri-Staters while throwing a pitch.
