| | Wednesday, September 10th, 2008: Kehoe Batters Mansfield Big Time! 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Tri-Staters 8-4 win over Mansfield, Dustin Kehoe was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Tri-Staters Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Kehoe delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
D. Kehoe hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Kehoe is batting .357 with 1 home run. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 20-18, .526 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 4.0 GB | | Record at home | 13-6, .684 PCT | | Record on the road | 7-12, .368 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-2, .667 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 8-7, .533 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 5-4, .556 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 15-14, .517 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 12-12, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 8-6, .571 PCT |
