| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, May 13th, 2009: Fighting Scotts Shut out Grizzlies, Cannon Winner
In an almost effortless performance, Mark Cannon of the Fighting Scotts shot down the Grizzlies 9-0 on a 6-hit shutout.
His skipper said, "Mark was just locating so well and using his pitches... not leaving anything over the plate."
Cannon recorded 8 strikeouts and 5 walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, the West Valley City manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."
To date in 2009, Cannon sports a 3-4 mark with a 3.55 ERA in 9 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .264 batting average and has 66 strikeouts in 63.1 innings. |

In the latest churning of the rumor mill, reports indicate that 30-year-old catcher Fernando Moreno of the Henderson Fighting Scotts could be on the trading block. While the player refused to comment, the team did not outright deny the claims. "If it'll help this team, we'll make a move," said one team official.
