It appears to be only a rumor, but earlier today, fans around Thornton were buzzing with the news that their 29-year old closer Rob Evans had been asking for a trade. "I couldn't imagine him saying bad things about Thornton or wanting to leave." said one person.

 | Thursday, May 1st, 2008: Yamauchi Wins RML Top Pitcher Honors
Ryuichi Yamauchi of Thornton excelled on the mound in April with a 4-0 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Rocky Mountain League.
Yamauchi restricted opposing batters to 17 base hits and a .167 batting average. He rang up 26 strikeouts in 29.1 innings of work, surrendered 2 walks and fashioned a 1.23 ERA.

 | Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008: Emancipation Triumph, Whitewash Thornton
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Thornton manager after his club suffered a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Joe Davis of the Lincoln Emancipation. He held the Thornton FasTrax scoreless in a 3-hit whitewash.
Davis was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Joe did a whale of a pitching job."
