| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, May 13th, 2009: Fighting Scotts Shut out Grizzlies, Cannon Winner
In an almost effortless performance, Mark Cannon of the Fighting Scotts shot down the Grizzlies 9-0 on a 6-hit shutout.
His skipper said, "Mark was just locating so well and using his pitches... not leaving anything over the plate."
Cannon recorded 8 strikeouts and 5 walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, the West Valley City manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."
To date in 2009, Cannon sports a 3-4 mark with a 3.55 ERA in 9 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .264 batting average and has 66 strikeouts in 63.1 innings. |

Rumors circulating around town, say second baseman Ángel Román is not happy at all playing in West Valley City and that the Grizzlies are actively shopping him around.

It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that West Valley City's Joe Roberts has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the center fielder may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment.
