Luis Carrillo of the Maine Lobsters was in command from start to finish in his 3-0 shutout win over the Narragansett Seagulls. He struck out 2, walked 2 and allowed 4 hits.
"I felt strong the entire game," Carrillo said. "I felt like I had my good stuff. It was just one of those games when everything was working."
So far this season Carrillo has a 4-2 record, 7 starts, 47.1 innings, 12 strikeouts and a 2.85 ERA. |
 | Friday, May 1st, 2009: AA Pitcher of the Month Goes to Hernández
There's something about a young rookie winning the American Alliance Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Carlos Hernández, a 26-year-old starter for the Maine Lobsters.
In April, he topped off the month with a 4-0 mark and 1.18 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 38 innings, fanned 30 and held opposing teams to a .201 average.

 | Monday, April 27th, 2009: Maine's Sánchez Sidelined for Season
Santiago Sánchez has to call it a season. The Maine Lobsters starting pitcher sustained a season-ending injury against the Hampton Airborne and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Sánchez was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a ruptured disc and stated that he would not be able to play for 11-12 months.
To date in 2009, Sánchez has registered 5 starts, 2-1 won-lost mark, 2.70 ERA, 30 IP, 12 strikeouts and 15 walks. Opposing teams have hit .241 against him.
