| Breaking News |  | Monday, April 27th, 2009: Red-Hot Rampage Reaps AA Reward So far in his young career, Jason Kirkland has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the American Alliance in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 21-year-old New Haven Politicos right fielder hit at a torrid .450 clip as he collected 9 hits in 20 at-bats, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
This year Kirkland is hitting .292 with 21 hits, 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and has scored 9 runs. |  | Saturday, April 25th, 2009: Carrillo Pitches Shutout Luis Carrillo of the Maine Lobsters shut down the New Haven Politicos 10-0 on a 4-hitter, holding them scoreless while ringing up 2 strikeouts and allowing 2 walks.
After the game Carrillo said, "Guys have been fouling off a lot of pitches lately and I've been getting into too many deep pitch counts, but I'm pleased with the way things went today. I went right after them and stayed ahead in the count."
|  | Wednesday, April 8th, 2009: Gonzáles out of Lineup 4-5 Months António Gonzáles of the New Haven Politicos was injured in today's game against Parma and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a fractured wrist and he is expected to be out for up to 4-5 months. It happened while Gonzáles was colliding with a player at a base. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
