| Breaking News | | Monday, April 20th, 2009: Monterey First Baseman Week's Best in AA 23-year-old Marquos Peixeiro sent shock waves through Great Northern League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the American Alliance Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Peixeiro made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .440 average, 11 hits in 25 at-bats, 2 home runs and 12 runs batted in.
Where the Monterey Sea Lions first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Peixeiro certainly made his mark last week.

If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Rob Harrison showed how it's done as he went 5 for 5 against the Monterey Sea Lions and helped the Maine Lobsters beat them 7-2.
The manager for the Sea Lions told the SION sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Harrison keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
R. Harrison singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Batting .301 to date, Harrison has 7 home runs and 53 RBIs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 21-17, .553 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 4.0 GB | | Record at home | 11-11, .500 PCT | | Record on the road | 10-6, .625 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-2, .333 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 8-4, .667 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 17-11, .607 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 9-1, .900 PCT | | Record in April | 12-12, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 9-5, .643 PCT |
