| Breaking News |  | Saturday, September 27th, 2008: Maine Sweeps Balloonists The 2008 Great Northern League season came to a close today at Ballpark of Maine, where the Maine Lobsters whipped the Gatineau Balloonists 7-3 and won their 1st Maple Leaf Classic in history.
Maine got there by compiling a 82-60 mark during regular season play and claiming the first spot in the American Alliance New England standings.
The Lobsters won the series 1-0 in games. |  | Monday, July 28th, 2008: CA Awards Player of the Week It was announced today that Gatineau right fielder Tom Smith has been acclaimed by the Canadian Alliance as the Player of the Week for his outstanding play last week.
Smith posted a .524 batting average as he collected 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs and 5 RBIs.

Hamilton bombardier Álex Martínez set his sights on the stands and blasted three balls over the fence in a 7-5 win over the Gatineau Balloonists.
It was a powerful performance that should keep the fans at Hamilton Grounds buzzing for days.
He spoke to the writers in the postgame press room and said, "I guess you could say I was a good guesser today...especially on the last one...I was ahead in the count, so I got set for a certain pitch...and got it...all of it."
For the game the Hamilton center fielder had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 4 and scored 3 runs.
Á. Martínez hit a solo-shot off V. Colón in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off V. Colón in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off S. Fujii in the 5th, walked in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
