Cherries Curt Nelson could be wearing a new uniform soon. Word has it that Mississauga would like to swing a deal for the 28-year-old right fielder. A spokesperson for the team declined to comment. |
 | Monday, May 11th, 2009: Cherries Ortíz Lost for Year
Manny Ortíz has to call it a season. The Mississauga Cherries right fielder sustained a season-ending injury against the Red Deer Kings and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Ortíz was injured while making a defensive play. His doctors diagnosed it as a fractured cheekbone and stated that he would not be able to play for 4 months.
This year Ortíz is batting .248 with 3 home runs. |

It appears to be only a rumor, but earlier today, fans around Mississauga were buzzing with the news that their 31-year old left fielder Juan Colón had been asking for a trade. "I couldn't imagine him saying bad things about Mississauga or wanting to leave." said one person.
