| Breaking News | | Friday, August 22nd, 2008: Union City Comes up Empty Against Gardner Before the game Arthur Gardner liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Battleships pitcher whitewashed the Union City Hillers 4-0.
Gardner said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The Bismarck starter held Union City scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 9 strikeouts and issuing no walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Hillers manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
This year Gardner has compiled a 8-5 record with a 3.47 ERA. | | Sunday, July 27th, 2008: Union City Blanks Moccasins Keith Bandelow was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Moccasins. He shut them out 7-0 on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.
The Union City manager said, "Keith was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Bandelow has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that offspeed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
Currently Bandelow has a record of 7-3 with 61 strikeouts and 25 walks in 95 innings and a 3.32 ERA. | | Thursday, June 12th, 2008: Union City Triumphs Over Moccasins in Shutout Alfred Becker of the Union City Hillers was right on target when he blanked the Nampa Moccasins 4-0, yielded 6 hits and totaled 2 walks and 1 strikeout.
Speaking to SION reporters after the game, Becker said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."
In 2008, Becker has chalked up 4 wins and 3 losses in 10 starts with 39 strikeouts in 65.2 innings and a 2.74 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 53-77, .408 PCT | | Position in Division | 7th, 27.0 GB | | Record at home | 30-35, .462 PCT | | Record on the road | 23-42, .354 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-7, .462 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 23-22, .511 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 14-23, .378 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 39-54, .419 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 4-4, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 9-16, .360 PCT | | Record in July | 11-18, .379 PCT | | Record in August | 10-19, .345 PCT | | Record in September | 5-5, .500 PCT |
