| Breaking News | | Monday, May 4th, 2009: Great Week for Columbia's Shortstop 22-year-old Dan Howard made a few Columbia headlines during this past week as the rookie shortstop proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Amber Waves League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.

| | Monday, April 27th, 2009: Amber Waves League Hitter of the Week Shi-ping Joo burst onto the Amber Waves League stage in a big way last week. This promising rookie shortstop for Columbia garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy.
The 19-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .458 (11-24) with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs last week.
| | Thursday, April 23rd, 2009: Columbia's Joo Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Shi-ping Joo showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Cary Grants and helped the Columbia Helos beat them 16-6.
The manager for the Grants told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Joo keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
S. Joo doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, flied out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off C. Cochran in the 9th.
