| Breaking News | | Friday, May 15th, 2009: Féliz Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Carlos Féliz showed how it's done as he went 5 for 5 against the Portsmouth Dockhands and helped the Roanoke Colonists beat them 4-2.
The manager for the Dockhands told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Féliz keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
C. Féliz singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off K. Suzuki in the 9th.
Féliz has a .435 average and a .484 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 37 hits, 4 home runs and driven in 16 runs. | | Saturday, May 9th, 2009: Hunter Stretches Hit String to 20 With 1 hit in today's game Graham Hunter added another number to his consecutive-game hitting streak. The Middle Bass left fielder increased it to 20 games in a row. But the Vintners fell to the Portsmouth Dockhands 1-0 at Vintners Stadium. G. Hunter walked in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
Thus far in 2009 Hunter is batting .333 with no home runs, 13 RBIs and 10 runs scored. | | Tuesday, April 28th, 2009: Sánchez Bewilders Dockhands in Shutout It turns out that Bismarck's Pedro Sánchez needed little run support to beat Portsmouth today 4-0 at Battleships Ballpark. In a solid outing Sánchez recorded 5 strikeouts and 1 walk as he held the Dockhands to 5 hits and shut them out.
