Breaking News Thursday, October 9th, 2008: Roanoke's French Nets AWL Outstanding Pitcher Award The 2008 Amber Waves League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner is Carl French of Roanoke Colonists. He started 22 games and compiled a 13-5 record with an ERA of 1.83 in 167.1 innings with 104 strikeouts. The SION Baseball Writers Association will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting. Thursday, July 10th, 2008: French Shuts Out Cheyenne In a sharp 3-hit performance, Carl French tossed the Roanoke Colonists to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Cheyenne Frontier, fanning 4 and walking 0. "That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the Cheyenne manager said in his postgame interview. In 2008 French has posted a record of 7 wins and 2 losses with a 1.57 ERA.
