| Breaking News | | Friday, September 26th, 2008: Virus Win Free Trade Throwdown El Cajon is riding skyhigh on cloud nine today after they won the 1st Free Trade Throwdown title in its team's history.
The Virus put the Bismarck Battleships out of their misery with a 4-0 victory at Ballpark of El Cajon and took the series 1-0.
They finished the regular season with a 68-62 mark and wound up third in the Baja Cali League SoCal. | | Friday, September 19th, 2008: Díaz Hurls Alexandria to Shutout Victory Luis Díaz was downright nasty in pitching a 5-0 shutout against Bismarck. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Battleships were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 3-hit shutout the Macedonians hurler chalked up 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
In 26 starts this season Díaz has rung up a 10-9 record and a 3.62 ERA. | | Monday, August 25th, 2008: Navarro Smacks 5 Hits for Battleships It was a great day for him at Battleships Ballpark, but not a good day for his team. Marcos Navarro of the Battleships was unstoppable in today's 10-7 loss to the Drumright Tornadoes.
"Boy, I was on the mark today," the Bismarck catcher said after the game. "All I had to do was swing, and I connected. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-6 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will. Losing the game is disappointing, but my hits at least gave us a chance."
M. Navarro struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off J. Hernández in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
In 2008 Navarro is batting .258 with 72 hits, 1 home run, 21 RBIs, 15 walks, .301 OBP and has scored 29 runs. He has played in 78 games. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 74-56, .569 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 3.0 GB | | Record at home | 37-28, .569 PCT | | Record on the road | 37-28, .569 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 8-8, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 26-20, .565 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 20-20, .500 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 54-36, .600 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 4-4, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in June | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in July | 19-10, .655 PCT | | Record in August | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in September | 4-6, .400 PCT |
