| Breaking News |  | Friday, July 3rd, 2009: Flores Hit String Snapped at 28 For 28 straight games, Manny Flores tried to ignore his hitting streak. "But you guys in the media wouldn't let me." The 23-year-old Cheyenne shortstop can forget about it now -- it's over! -- courtesy of the Rapid City Rushmores. They held him hitless in 5 at-bats and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 28. The streak ended on one good note, however, Cheyenne won the game, beating the Rushmores 4-3.
But Flores acknowledged that it meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. But that's what you're supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try and score runs. It was a cool deal. It's over now. Let's try to start it all over again."
For 2009 Flores is batting .364 with 3 home runs, 41 RBIs and 35 runs scored. |  | Wednesday, July 1st, 2009: AWL's Premier Batter Picked Even though he is a newcomer to North American Farm Team Affiliation, Manny Flores put up some good numbers in June and brought home the AWL Batter of the Month trophy.
He was one of Cheyenne's offensive leaders with a .451 average in 26 games. He also racked up 3 home runs, 26 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
Thus far this season in 65 games Flores is batting .362 with 3 home runs, 38 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 104 hits in 287 at-bats. |  | Monday, June 29th, 2009: Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Flores Cheyenne shortstop Manny Flores has extended his hitting streak to 25 straight games with a 1-for-5 day. However, Jackson Hole got a 5-2 victory over the Frontier at Frontier Ballpark. M. Flores grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
