| Breaking News | | Friday, July 3rd, 2009: Flores Hit String Snapped at 28 For 28 straight games, Manny Flores tried to ignore his hitting streak. "But you guys in the media wouldn't let me." The 23-year-old Cheyenne shortstop can forget about it now -- it's over! -- courtesy of the Rapid City Rushmores. They held him hitless in 5 at-bats and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 28. The streak ended on one good note, however, Cheyenne won the game, beating the Rushmores 4-3.
But Flores acknowledged that it meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. But that's what you're supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try and score runs. It was a cool deal. It's over now. Let's try to start it all over again."
For 2009 Flores is batting .364 with 3 home runs, 41 RBIs and 35 runs scored. | | Sunday, June 28th, 2009: Rafael Pacheco Lost for Season The season is apparently over for Rafael Pacheco. The Rapid City Rushmores medical staff informed the club that the reliever will be out at least 7 months with a torn back muscle. Pacheco was hurt in the game against Cary while throwing a pitch. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
So far this year Pacheco has 1 save in 21 relief appearances with a 1-2 record and 9.84 ERA. | | Monday, June 15th, 2009: Trade Rumors in Rapid City Several teams have surfaced as a possible trading partner with Rapid City for Juan Colón -- or so rumor has it. Sources inside the Rushmores organization report that teams have inquired about making a deal for the 32-year-old left fielder. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Rafael Pacheco | torn back muscle | 7 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 31-38, .449 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 8.0 GB | | Record at home | 10-22, .313 PCT | | Record on the road | 21-16, .568 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-1, .857 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 11-7, .611 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 6-12, .333 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 25-26, .490 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 6-5, .545 PCT | | Record in May | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in June | 9-17, .346 PCT | | Record in July | 1-3, .250 PCT |
