| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, June 30th, 2009: Career-Ending Injury for Francisco De Jesús The expression on his face said it all when right fielder Francisco De Jesús was injured making a defensive play today in a game at Bankers Ballpark against Chula Vista. You could tell that this was no minor injury. De Jesús was examined quickly by the team doctor and immediately rushed to the local hospital. After several tests, the diagnosis was a torn ankle ligaments, and in this case, it means his career is over.
The National City Bankers issued the following statement: "It is with great sadness that we see Francisco ending his career due to injury. He was a great competitor and teammate and will be missed by the Bankers organization." De Jesús is 26 years old.
A look at his 2009 stats shows De Jesús with a .228 average, 2 home runs, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has played in 55 games. |  | Monday, June 29th, 2009: National City's Gobert Sidelined for Season The news is bad in National City. The Bankers have lost the services of left fielder Christian Gobert for the rest of the season due to a fractured skull. Gobert was injured in a recent game with the Chula Vista Chargers while making a defensive play and is expected to miss 10-11 months.
So far this year in 41 games Gobert is hitting .320 with no home runs, 20 RBIs and 11 runs scored. |  | Thursday, June 18th, 2009: Taylor Tosses Shutout for Rosarito Goose eggs were the order of the day for National City as Maxime Taylor shut out the Bankers 9-0 at Ballpark of Rosarito. The Rosarito pitcher struck out 10 and walked 4 while allowing 5 hits.
