| Breaking News | | Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009: Rose Holds Salton Sea Scoreless The Kilmers manager was philosophical after his team was shut out by the El Cajon Virus 7-0.
"It was just one of those games, shake it off and do better next time," he said.
Ken Rose blanked them on 4 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs. They were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Rose said.
"I set them up pretty good, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 2009 thus far, Rose has tossed 55.2 innings in 8 starts, fanned 40 batters, walked 17 and put up a 2.43 ERA with 4 wins and 2 losses. | | Friday, May 22nd, 2009: Kilmers End Milton's Streak The Chula Vista Chargers won the game 7-6 over the Salton Sea Kilmers. At the same time the Kilmers mound corps did what no other team could do. They stopped the 24-game hitting streak of Chargers left fielder Eric Milton. But that was still not enough to win the game.
"Our pitchers may have focused a bit too much on stopping Milton," the Salton Sea manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Chargers have other hitters and they did their job today."
A look at his season totals shows Milton with 1 home run, .325 BA, .356 OBP, 17 RBIs and 15 runs scored. | | Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009: Valadez Bewilders Chargers Orlando Valadez really wowed everybody at the ballpark with his 1-0 shutout victory over Chula Vista today. The Salton Sea pitcher mystified the Chargers in a strong performance. He gave up 4 hits and totaled 4 walks and no strikeouts.
His manager said, "Orlando had them chasing a lot of pitches and talking to themselves. It was something special to watch."
