| Breaking News | | Wednesday, April 8th, 2009: Jeffries Socks it to Old Queens, Cracks 5 Hits After the Iowa 10-1 victory over Rutgers and his 5-hit day left fielder Phillip Jeffries told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good... three or four hits even better... 5 or more are out of sight... and if it is in pro ball... it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 19-year-old player gained that distinction today at Archers Ballpark with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Rutgers Old Queens.
The skipper of the Archers spoke glowingly of Jeffries, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Phillip did that to perfection today."
P. Jeffries singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a GRAND SLAM off T. Pimentel in the 8th.
In the current season, Jeffries has put up a .298 batting average with 31 hits, 1 home run, 14 RBI and scored 13 runs. | | Monday, March 30th, 2009: Bradley Sparkles in Shutout It was not a good day at the plate for Archers hitters.
