| Breaking News |  | Saturday, May 16th, 2009: Brunelle Whacks 3 out of the Park for Wilson Classical HS
It was a day for the record book for Wilson Classical HS shortstop Leon Brunelle. He walloped three out of Bruins Ballpark against the Chancellors. But not even a three-homer game could prevent the Bruins from losing 8-6 to Chatsworth HS today.
"We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em... we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," the Wilson Classical HS skipper quipped after the loss.
Brunelle celebrated nonetheless as his name will now be added to the league archives. He was 3-5 for the day, batting in 4 runs and scoring 3 times.
"I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Brunelle said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time."
L. Brunelle hit a solo-shot off R. Garland in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off R. Garland in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off R. Garland in the 9th.
In the 2009 season Brunelle is hitting .366 with 24 home runs.

 | Thursday, May 14th, 2009: Hit Parade: Thomas Pops 5 Hits
Chatsworth HS center fielder Mike Thomas really lit up the Wilson Classical HS Bruins with a 5-hit barrage today at Ballpark of Chatsworth HS -- a performance that sparked the Chancellors to a 18-14 triumph.
He shrugged off the performance after the game and said, "Sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes."
M. Thomas singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off M. Lake in the 8th.
This season Thomas is hitting .349 with 1 home run.

 | Friday, May 8th, 2009: Hernández Smacks 5 Hits for Tigers
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Juan Hernández after his 5-hit performance against the Chancellors. "No offense meant to Chatsworth HS, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Tigers Ballpark."
The Katy HS catcher had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 15-7 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Juan worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Hernández said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
J. Hernández singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and flied out in the 8th.
In the current season, Hernández has put up a .356 batting average with 16 hits, 4 home runs, 12 runs batted in and scored 12 runs.
