Breaking News Friday, June 12th, 2009: Horizon HS's Sims Nets WC Outstanding Pitcher Award 16-year-old Albert Sims of the Horizon HS Huskies put together a good year in 2009 for such a young player. Sims was named today as the winner of the Western Conference Outstanding Pitcher Award. Sims crafted an impressive 5-2 record and a 1.86 ERA. In 77.1 innings he allowed 70 hits, struck out 105, and walked 21. Tuesday, May 19th, 2009: Sims Tosses Shutout for Horizon HS Albert Sims was sneaky fast, on the mark and hard to hit today. He blanked the Moody HS Trojans 14-0 on 3 hits and had 1 walk and 13 strikeouts. "You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," the Moody HS skipper told reporters after the shutout loss to the Horizon HS Huskies. "He just had a real deceiving fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes." In 12 starts this year Sims has recorded a 5-2 record and a 1.86 ERA. Thursday, May 14th, 2009: Year Over for Huskies Hodges The news is bad in Horizon HS. The Huskies have lost the services of third baseman Corey Hodges for the rest of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Hodges was injured in a recent game with the Lakewood HS Lancers while running the bases and is expected to miss 8 months. Batting .303 to date, Hodges has 4 home runs and 22 RBIs.
