Jorge Guevara of the Shin Seiki Evas was really in the zone as he mowed down the Hyakujuu hitters 9-0 in a sterling mound performance.
"I'm feeling good overall," he said.
"I'm executing my pitches, I'm able to hit my spots and I'm getting outs in key situations."
Guevara shut down the Hyakujuu Mighty Mecha, blanking them on 4 hits while registering 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Up to now Guevara has recorded a record of 4-2. In 9 starts he has fanned 68 batters in 76.1 innings with a 2.24 ERA. |
 | Tuesday, June 30th, 2009: Kamuta Hurls Masterpiece
In an outstanding mound performance, Yasutoki Kamuta of the Niihama-shi Ghosts scuttled the Hyakujuu Mighty Mecha 5-0 on a 4-hit shutout, ringing up 8 strikeouts and giving up 4 walks.
"He's got great stuff and good movement," the Hyakujuu manager said after the game.
"He threw a lot of breaking balls. He made adjustments. We just couldn't figure him out today."
To date this season Kamuta is 5-1 with 7 starts and an ERA of 2.81 with 49 strikeouts in 51.1 innings. |
 | Monday, June 29th, 2009: Barrage of Hits Gets Inoue SSG Award
Veteran Masujiro Inoue had a great week at the plate for the Mighty Mecha to capture the majority of votes for Player of the Week in the Shining Star Group.
The 33-year-old Hyakujuu center fielder built a .429 average on the strength of 9 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs and 3 RBIs.
So far this season, Inoue has recorded a .285 batting average with 43 hits, 7 home runs, 22 RBIs, 24 runs scored and a .394 OBP. |
