| Breaking News | | Wednesday, June 24th, 2009: Nan out 3-4 Weeks with Injury Ton Nan at first refused to leave today's Shin Seiki-Makurosu game after he suffered a torn groin muscle while running the bases. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Makurosu second baseman said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Nan out of action for 3-4 weeks.
Nan on the season is batting .318 with 3 home runs. His totals include 24 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has played in 36 games. | | Saturday, June 20th, 2009: Injury Forces Michinaga Honda Out "I'm frustrated right now," said Makurosu starting pitcher Michinaga Honda. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Hunters, that's where he will be spending the next 7-8 weeks. Honda suffered back spasms in today's game against Hyakujuu while throwing the ball. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
On his 2009 stats sheet Honda shows a 1-3 record, 8 starts, 58.2 innings, 54 strikeouts and a 2.15 ERA. | | Wednesday, June 10th, 2009: Neo-Tokyo Whitewashes Makurosu, Ichihara Winner "He's got a bunch of different arm angles and his ball was really moving," said the Makurosu manager after watching Mito Ichihara of the Neo-Tokyo Akiras humiliate his club 4-0 in a fine 3-hit shutout.
"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Ichihara said after he befuddled the Hunters. "I was making good pitches the entire game."
He whiffed 6 and walked 1 in the complete game effort.
