| Breaking News |  | Thursday, July 2nd, 2009: Velas Trade Smith to Adelantados for Hayagawa
The Ciudad Juárez Velas have parted ways with 27-year old minor league second baseman Ron Smith and $678,800 in cash in a trade with the Mérida Adelantados for 26-year old minor league shortstop Suezo Hayagawa. The Velas general manager confirmed the deal in an announcement this morning.
His career numbers show Smith is batting .321 with a total of 29 home runs.

 | Saturday, May 30th, 2009: Martínez Befuddles Mérida
At Ballpark of León today León blitzed the Mérida Adelantados 9-0 on a route-going gem by Félix Martínez. He blanked them on a 3-hitter and had 8 strikeouts in the contest.
This year in 21 starts, Martínez has recorded 13 wins and absorbed 4 losses. He has pitched 139 innings, allowed 119 hits, struck out 133 and has a 3.24 ERA.

 | Monday, May 25th, 2009: Lorenzo Reyes Sidelined for Season
The season is ending on a bad note for Lorenzo Reyes, left fielder for the Mérida Adelantados. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. Reyes was hurt against the Hermosillo Sols while running the bases. He suffered a ruptured achilles tendon and will be out for at least 8 months.
A look at his 2009 stats shows Reyes with a .227 average, 4 home runs, 25 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has played in 90 games.
