| Breaking News | | Tuesday, June 9th, 2009: 5-5 Day for Tribin "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Miguel Tribin after his 5-hit performance against the Frijoles de Dios. "No offense meant to Guadalupe, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Torrenas Ballpark."
The Zapopan catcher had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 6-1 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Miguel worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Tribin said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
M. Tribin doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off T. Saucedo in the 9th.
Tribin is currently batting .188 with 5 home runs and 33 RBIs. | | Monday, May 18th, 2009: Ishibashi Stops León Cold Tabito Ishibashi of the Zapopan Torrenas gave the Zapateros a steady diet of fine pitches and he walked off the mound with a complete-game shutout. He blanked them 7-0 on 5 hits with a total of 5 strikeouts and 6 walks.
The Zapopan manager said, "Ishibashi was on quite a roll. He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
| | Thursday, April 30th, 2009: Roldán Gets No-Hitter Against Zapopan The Mérida Adelantados were only hoping for a solid outing from José Roldán, instead the 28-year-old pitcher tossed a no-hitter against the Zapopan Torrenas. Using a brilliant mix of offspeed pitches and fastballs, Roldán kept the Zapopan hitters off balance all game long in the 2-0 victory at Adelantados Ballpark. The Mérida hurler fanned 4 and walked 1 in his record-making performance.
"I felt pretty good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Adelantados. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I was not nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
That something special got his name in the league record books.
This season Roldán has worked 76 innings with 50 strikeouts en route to a 4-5 record and a 4.86 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | RF Jorge Alvarado | torn anterior cruciate ligament | 5 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 64-46, .582 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 9.0 GB | | Record at home | 35-20, .636 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-26, .527 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-7, .364 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 16-8, .667 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 19-14, .576 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 45-32, .584 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in February | 14-4, .778 PCT | | Record in March | 19-10, .655 PCT | | Record in April | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in May | 11-18, .379 PCT | | Record in June | 6-3, .667 PCT |
