The season is ending on a bad note for Carlos Pérez, catcher for the Hermosillo Sols. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. Pérez was hurt against the Tlalnepantla de Baz Progresivos while being hit by a pitch. He suffered a fractured skull and will be out for at least 7 months.
Thus far this year Pérez is hitting .301 with 9 home runs, 40 RBIs and 46 runs scored.

It was a smooth and solid performance by Carlos Zamora of the Guadalajara Chivas Rayadas against Hermosillo today. He crafted a fine 1-hitter in blanking them 7-0 and chalked up 4 strikeouts and 1 walk along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Guadalajara skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch and enjoy."
To date in 2009, Zamora sports a 9-2 mark with a 2.17 ERA in 17 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .181 batting average and has 95 strikeouts in 112 innings.

 | Thursday, April 16th, 2009: Ciudad Juárez, Hermosillo Make Deal
The Velas have reached a deal with Hermosillo, sending 26-year old minor league center fielder Mitsuo Yamamoto to the Sols in exchange for 26-year old minor league reliever Kantaro Sakei. Reports had been hinting at a deal in recent days, but weren't confirmed until this afternoon.
In his 116-game career Yamamoto is hitting .287 with 136 hits, 5 home runs, 81 runs scored and 41 RBIs.
This season Sakei has been credited with 2 saves. In 17 relief appearances and 20 innings he has a 1-1 won-lost mark, a 3.15 ERA and 16 strikeouts.
