The season is finished for Koki Sato of the Querétaro Desperados. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Desperados starting pitcher suffered a fractured elbow while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Hermosillo Sols. Team doctors said it would take at least 10-11 months to heal.
This year Sato has registered 3 wins and 4 losses in 17 starts with a 6.44 ERA while registering 38 strikeouts and 52 walks in 100.2 innings.

The Café Tacvbas whipped the Desperados 33-8 at Café Tacvbas Ballpark and José Alsina had a big hand in the win. The Café Tacvbas catcher came to the plate 7 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Alsina and a tough day for Querétaro.
"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
Plan or not, Alsina delivered today -- 5-7 is outstanding in any league.
J. Alsina singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off J. Ko in the 4th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off A. Ferrer in the 8th, walked in the 8th and walked in a run in the 9th.
This year Alsina is batting .284 with 67 hits, 12 home runs, 60 RBIs, 42 walks, .394 OBP and has scored 39 runs.

 | Sunday, April 12th, 2009: Super Swinger -- Morales Slams 5 Hits
Next time the Desperados might think twice about pitching to Juan Morales. Today at San Luis Potosí Grounds the San Luis Potosí left fielder really burned Querétaro pitching, going 5-for-6 in the Jardineros 14-4 triumph.
"When he's seeing the ball well," his skipper told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded."
J. Morales hit a three-run home run off V. Torres in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off A. Ferrer in the 9th.
Looking at his 2009 season stats, Morales has compiled a .296 batting average in 52 games with a .345 on-base percentage, while hitting 9 home runs and driving in 42 runs.
