Baní has worked out terms of a deal to send 25-year old second baseman Tadayuki Kawaguchi to San Cristóbal for 36-year old reliever Jesús Gallegos and $776,000 in cash. Both teams expect to introduce the players to their new teammates within a day or two.
Gallegos has appeared in 48 games and captured 1 save. Over his career he has 1 win and 4 losses and a 2.87 ERA.

An old hand in this game, Andrés Díaz of the Baní Depredadores del Peravia silenced critics as well as he silenced the opposition this year by winning the Liga Dominicana de Béisbol Invernal Outstanding Pitcher Award.
The 36-year-old starter threw 116.2 innings, notched 123 strikeouts and put up a 10-3 record to claim the coveted award.

 | Sunday, February 1st, 2009: Azua-Baní Announce Swap
Azua and Baní have agreed in principle to a trade. The Zafiros Blanco will send 26-year old second baseman Carlos Rodríguez to the Depredadores del Peravia for 33-year old starting pitcher Roberto Ruíz, 24-year old right fielder José Flores and $571,200 in cash. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.
In his career Rodríguez is hitting .306 with a total of 23 home runs.
Ruíz has posted 13 victories and 7 defeats in his career with a 5.19 ERA. He also has fanned 150 batters in 157.2 innings and given up 172 hits.
