Breaking News Sunday, June 28th, 2009: Kurihara Spins Shutout Against Mighty Moose Sitka's Yoshihide Kurihara used his full arsenal today to shoot down Anchorage 1-0. All day long, he exhibited fine command of all his pitches, giving up no walks and striking out 4. Kurihara allowed the Anchorage 6 hits in the victory. Sunday, September 14th, 2008: Sledge Dogs Shut Out Capitals Arturo Morán was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Capitals. He shut them out 3-0 on 5 hits with 2 strikeouts and no walks. The Wasilla manager said, "Arturo was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence." The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Morán has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that offspeed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off." Monday, September 1st, 2008: Sitka's LaFrance Winner, AL Best Hitter in August When David LaFrance stepped up to the plate in August, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Alaskan League Batter of the Month award.
