Breaking News Thursday, June 18th, 2009: Valdés Shuts out Eagles "Sometimes I was smart... and sometimes just a little lucky." That's how Juan Valdés of the Taku Winds described his shutout victory over the Akutan Island Eagles. Valdés blanked them 2-0 on 5 hits while striking out 3 and walking 3. Thursday, June 11th, 2009: Red-Hot Ruíz Cools off Taku It was not a good day at the plate for Winds hitters. Most of them came up empty against Miguel Ruíz of the Wasilla Sledge Dogs. He held them to 2 hits and blanked Taku 6-0. Ruíz also chalked up 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in the game at Oceans Ballpark. Thursday, August 28th, 2008: Dávila Cruises to Shutout David Dávila of the Ketchikan Salmon was masterful today, pitching a 1-hit 4-0 shutout against the Taku Winds and giving his bullpen a rest by going the the distance. According to his manager, "He had command of every ball and every pitch . . . great location, too." Dávila had 5 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in an impressive outing.
