Relying on pinpoint control and a good array of pitches, Augusto Cervantes of the Mokule'ia Oceanic held the Waikiki Coconuts scoreless today. He scattered 4 hits over 9 innings and fanned 4 on his way to the 2-0 victory.
So far this year Cervantes has made 7 starts, tossed 51 innings, struck out 10 batters and walked 11. His record is 4-2 with a 1.41 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .255 batting average.

Mokule'ia's Vicente Hernández breezed through the Oysters lineup today, collecting a 4-hit shutout and a 1-0 victory along the way. Hernández fanned 3 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Hernández confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."
Checking out his stats for the season, Hernández has racked up 2 wins and 3 losses in 8 starts, 3.11 ERA and struck out 15 batters in 55 innings.

Today the Hawaiian League announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Mokule'ia right fielder Michael Burton. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually bad news for pitchers.
For the week he batted .481 (13-27) with no home runs and 2 RBIs.
So far in 2008, Burton is batting .313 with 1 home run and 14 RBIs.
