Jonathan Peña pitched a strong game in blanking the Kilauea Volcanoes 4-0, allowed no runs on 6 hits, totaled 3 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks.
The Hilo manager said he could tell right away it was going to be a good game for Peña. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," he said. "He threw a lot of strikes."
Thus far this season, Peña has worked 119.1 innings with 36 strikeouts en route to a 6-8 record and a 2.94 ERA.

Pearl City pitcher Ryan Woodward put on a show today and walked away with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Hilo Hoops, throttling them on 3 hits. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 7 and walking 1 in a strong outing.
"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."
