Saturday, September 20th, 2008: Ramírez Tosses Shutout
Rafael Ramírez spun his magic in a 7-0 shutout victory, allowing 5 hits while totaling 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

The Maui pitcher put quite a spell on Ewa Beach in a strong performance.

"I had a lot of good things working in this one," Ramírez said. "I worked both sides of the plate. I was rarely behind in the count."

In 5 starts this season Ramírez has gathered 1 win while suffering 2 losses. He has pitched 37.1 innings, allowed 40 hits, struck out 5 and has a 2.65 ERA.
Friday, August 22nd, 2008: Sting Rays Blanked by Abrams
On the hill Dave Abrams stood out and was the master of the moment as he blanked Maui 8-0.

At bat the Sting Rays floundered, fizzled and failed to score.

"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Maui manager said. "He kept us off balance."

The Mauna Loa pitcher hurled a 4-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up 5 walks and numbered 2 strikeouts.

"I felt good," Abrams said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."

Over the season Abrams has thrown 40.1 innings and dished out 18 strikeouts with a 4-1 mark and a 2.45 ERA.
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008: Super Swinger! Stewart Slams 5 Hits!
It was a great day for him at Dole Park, but not a good day for his team. Dennis Stewart of the Pineapples was unstoppable in today's 7-6 loss to the Maui Sting Rays.

"Boy, I was on the mark today," the Lana'i City center fielder said after the game. "All I had to do was swing, and I connected. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-8 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will. Losing the game is disappointing, but my hits at least gave us a chance."

D. Stewart hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, flied out in the 9th, singled in the 12th, singled in the 13th and singled in the 16th.

This season Stewart is swinging the bat at a .371 pace. He has hit 1 home run and scored 20 times, while driving in 13. His on-base percentage is .421 and he has played in 40 games.
