This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and homerun in the same game, getting every type of hit possible.
Vicente Bernal grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle. Bernal went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored against Arlington, leading the Gloucester Fishermen to a 9-2 win at Dockside Coliseum.
"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Bernal said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me. The ball seemed that big to me. And it just floated in."
V. Bernal doubled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off P. Gore in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th.
This season Bernal has delivered 163 hits in 482 at-bats for a .338 average with 22 home runs. He is getting on base at a .433 clip and his totals also include 78 RBIs and 84 runs scored. This year Bernal has played in 130 games. | | Saturday, September 6th, 2008: Xian Twirls Fishermen to Shutout Win An efficient outing for Chi-ming Xian usually means a win for Gloucester.
