| Breaking News |  | Thursday, September 4th, 2008: Martínez Belts 3 HRs Bigger paychecks may be in the offing, if Víctor Martínez continues to hit like he did today against the Warriors. The Tempe left fielder crushed three into the stands at Knights Stadium in a remarkable performance, propelling the Knights to a 7-6 win over Duluth.
He tagged 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 5 runs and scored 3 times.
Speaking to writers after the game, he said, "It was just one of those days when you got something to hit and did something with it." The Duluth skipper agreed with him. "We made three mistakes, and he made us pay each time."
V. Martínez struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off R. Ornelas in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off R. Ornelas in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off D. Peterson in the 9th.
Thus far in 2008 Martínez is hitting .223 with 21 home runs, 66 RBIs, 57 runs scored and has compiled a .274 OBP. |  | Saturday, August 2nd, 2008: Mike Buck Out of Lineup, Listed DTD Warriors reliever Mike Buck was injured while throwing a pitch yesterday against the Canton Longshoremen. It was diagnosed as a a tender shoulder. He is not expected to miss too much action and will be listed as day-to-day. Team doctors said it could be as long as 1-2 weeks before Duluth standout player returns to the lineup.
This season he has made 28 relief appearances with 3 saves. In 58 innings Buck has chalked up 41 strikeouts while posting a 2-5 record and a 4.81 ERA |  | Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008: Ornelas and Calderón Swapped The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Kentucky Thoroughbreds sent 35-year old starting pitcher Ramón Ornelas to the Duluth Warriors for 30-year old third baseman Anastasio Calderón.
Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.
This year Ornelas has registered 2 wins and 7 losses in 10 starts with a 5.61 ERA while registering 39 strikeouts and 15 walks in 77 innings.
In 2008 Calderón is currently batting .165 with 8 home runs and 19 RBIs.
