Monday, September 15th, 2008: Potent Bat Pays Off, McDonald Player of the Week
This week's premier performer in the Sovereign League was second baseman Steve McDonald of the Aurora Borealis.

He banged out a .586 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week McDonald socked 17 hits in 29 at-bats and 1 home run, drove in 9 runs and scored 10 times.

Thus far this year McDonald has hit .347 with 7 home runs and 80 RBIs.
Sunday, September 7th, 2008: McDonald 5-6 Against Yuma
History in the making. That's what the fans at Northern Lights Park got to see today, when Aurora outplayed the Bulldozers 17-3. Steve McDonald of the Borealis came to the plate 6 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Yuma.

In the postgame press conference the Yuma skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink."

S. McDonald singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off J. Gilmore in the 8th.

McDonald is batting .339 this year with 7 home runs, 76 RBIs and 114 runs scored. He has 184 hits in 543 at-bats.
Monday, September 1st, 2008: SL Top Pitcher in August - Roach
August's premier pitcher was John Roach of Aurora Borealis. He pulverized Sovereign League hitters all month long and picked up the Pitcher of the Month award. The Borealis star hurler notched 6 wins and no losses to take the honor.

The Aurora star added 40 strikeouts in 42.2 innings to his season totals and compiled a 0.63 ERA. Other clubs hit .166 against him.

In 27 starts this season Roach has rung up a 15-2 record and a 1.78 ERA.
